Mentorship and Digital Academy Program

We are currently offering an online mentorship program coupled with technical training sessions on key themes around planetary health during a three month period starting early October 2020. 


OUR VISION - Build a world that values planetary health and promotes human rights and gender equity. For that, we support leadership skills to enhance equitable decision making and participation of women in key socio-economic themes that are linked to planetary health.


OUR MISSION - We empower women to be transformative agents in the areas of health, environment and human rights with a focus on the Global South through mutually supportive relationships between senior and young professionals through a mentorship program and network opportunities.


Whom is this program for?

This program targets young female young leaders, with a focus on the Global South, studying and working on themes related to Planetary Health and connected areas who are looking to improve leadership skills. 

What are the benefits offered in this program?

We help you to enhance soft skills related to leadership, communication, negotiations, and networking. The program aims to connect you to a seasoned professional to exchange openly about your personal and professional journey to refine your own personal and professional missions. The program is a chance to kick-off new partnerships and gets career advice.

What areas does the program focus on?

The WLPH mentorship is open for all disciplines but calls for individuals interested in the field of Planetary Health, especially in the Global South.

How long does it take approximately to reach the desired objectives?

The duration of this program is three months. In many cases, we expect to remain connected and develop future projects as a way to nurture our community.

When does it start?

The program will start in October 2020 and will last four months. Selected participants are expected to dedicate at least 2h per month.

What is the acceptance criteria?

There are multiple criteria for acceptance. First, we want to make sure you are a committed and driven individual aiming to be a change-agent. Second, it’s important that your application shows your goals are aligned with the goals around planetary health and equity. Third, we also want to be sure that the advice we provide can be executed in the short term. Finally, we are seeking female early career professionals who can support transformative policies in the Global South. We promote positive change by targeting a specific group to attend our in-house mentorship and the digital academy:

  • Female scholar less than 35 years old;

  • Masters or Ph.D. students from low and middle-income countries;

  • Preferably Involved in a Planetary Health research project or activity; 

  • an outstanding student with an original research project;

  • Awareness and sensitivity regarding gender issues, health themes, and/or sustainability;

  • Effective communication and leadership skills. 


Only selected applicants will be notified whether they have been selected to join the WLPH mentorship and digital academy program.

The new selection process will open in May 2021.
